Young Farmer Challenge 2026
Ready to test your farming skills on the state’s biggest agricultural stage? The Melbourne Royal Young Farmer Challenge State Final is now open for entries!
What is the Young Farmer Challenge?
The Young Farmer Challenge sees teams of four compete in a series of tasks that test their agricultural skills and knowledge. It’s a race to see which team can complete the challenges the fastest – with a few twists along the way.
All teams must consist of four people aged between 18 and 35 years old, and must be mixed gender (i.e., include at least one male and one female competitor).
For more information about the Australian Young Farmer Challenge, visit the Agricultural Shows Australia website.
This Year’s State Final
This year’s Victorian State Final will take place on Tuesday 29 September at the Melbourne Royal Show. It will be a great morning of fun competition.
Any team may make a nomination to enter as long as they meet the team eligibility conditions, though places are allocated preferentially to teams who have won a regional, or local show AYFC competition at a Victorian Agricultural Shows (VAS) affiliated Show.
Prizes include bragging rights and a chance to compete at the ASA Australian Young Farmer Challenge National Final.
After presentations, competitors are welcomed to stay for a series of Agribusiness Chats about how agriculture is changing in Victoria, followed by networking drinks.
