Mr Jim and Mrs Brenda Venters
Nurturing the next generation of Corriedale breeders
Jim Venters, a revered name in the Corriedale industry, has left an indelible mark on the Melbourne Royal Show.
As the custodian of 'Liberton Corriedales' for three generations, Jim's legacy began with his grandfather's stud in 1929, which eventually became 'Liberton' upon his marriage to Brenda in 1965. Together, they built lifelong friendships while selling over 400 Corriedale rams each year, often hosting buyers with warm hospitality.
Jim and Brenda's involvement in the industry expanded as they exhibited their own show team in Melbourne ASBA in 1989. Jim's leadership roles included State President and a Federal Councillor, and he led the Australian delegation at the World Conference in Uruguay in 2003.
Jim and Brenda have spent many years showing at the Melbourne Royal, developing lifelong friendships and exchanging ideas. They also promoted Australian Corriedale wool internationally and supported youth development in the breed.
Jim and Brenda’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of breeders and their accomplishments in the show ring remain their greatest source of pride and an impetus for the Australian Corriedale Association to award them with a life membership.
