Sir Alec Creswick

Sir Alec Creswick was elected to Council in 1948 and held the positions of Ringmaster, Chairman of the Horse and Arena Committee and Society Vice President.

Sir Alec Creswick was a prominent pastoralist and businessman. He served as a Councillor of the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria and became a Life Councillor in 1968. 

Sir Alec Creswick had a keen passion for horses, which led to his involvement with the Equestrian Federation of Australia and the International Equestrian Organisation, the F.E.I., the Victorian Polo Association, Victoria Racing Club, Racecourse Licensing Board and the Melbourne Hunt Club. Upon his death in 1983 the President GR Starritt said “His (Sir Alec’s) involvement was significant in terms of service in a position of office.” 

Sir Alec Creswick also made important contributions to Australia's international standing in the equestrian field as manager of the Olympic Equestrian Team in Stockholm in 1956, Rome in 1960 and Montreal in 1976. He introduced the first Olympic style equestrian events at agricultural shows and has a stand named in his honour. Up until 1981 he was a selector for the Overseas Touring Team. Sir Alec Creswick passed away at the age of 71 in 1983.
