Winners of this year's Australian International Coffee Awards announced
The winners of Australia’s only international roasting competition have been decided, with NSW based Campos Coffee, Taiwan based Caffee Artigiano and New Zealand based Gourmet Espresso taking out the sweep of major trophies at a presentation ceremony hosted by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) at ST ALi Coffee Roasters, in South Melbourne today.
Gold medals were also awarded to 15 entries with a selection of medal winning coffee available for tasting at the exclusive invitation only event.
The 2020 Australian International Coffee Awards staged by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) broke records, with more than 800 entries from 174 exhibitors across Australia and Internationally.
A panel of 41 judges assessed each entry across a three-day judging period, blind tasting 1700+ individual cups of coffee to decide upon the best beans for espresso, milk-based coffees, filter and cold brew with three stand out roasters taking top honours:
Champion Australian Roaster - NSW based Campos Coffee

- Champion Direct Trader or Microlot Coffee
- Champion Filter Coffee
Champion International Roaster – Taiwan based Caffe Artigiano
Also awarded:
- Champion Espresso
- Champion Milk Based Coffee

Champion Cold Brew Coffee - New Zealand based Gourmet Espresso
CEO of The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) Brad Jenkins said the impressive participation this year reflected the high regard that the Awards program is held within the Industry:
“To see the record-breaking numbers of Australian entries this year tells us that the Australian International Coffee Awards is benefiting those who take part, and that more and more producers are
looking to participate each year. It’s also pleasing to see continued growth and evolution in international exhibitors.”
“While the morning cup of coffee is something we all like to assess, these Awards are about more than celebrating a good brew – at its core is supporting our agricultural industries who are able to benchmark their products against each other nationally and internationally.”
Head Judge for the Australian International Coffee Awards, Melissa Caia said that while there’s been stand out roasters this year claiming the top honours, the field was highly competitive:
“It was terrific to have a notable improvement in the quality of entries and with the significant increase in the number of roasters entering from both Australia and internationally it’s a true reflection of the international status of the Australian International Coffee Awards,” she said.
