That’s a wrap: Day 2 at the Melbourne Royal Show

Day two of the Melbourne Royal Show delivered talent and tradition in spades, with woodchopping, horses, dogs, and sheep all taking the spotlight. The woodchopping competitions were fierce, the crowd-favourite Clydesdales captured hearts everywhere, and the dog confirmation classes showcased the best of the best. Over in the sheep arena, top breeders from across the country – including the next generation – also brought their showcased excellence.

Darren Keating, Executive General Manager, Agriculture at Melbourne Royal congratulated exhibitors heading home with the royal blue today.

“There is nothing like the thrill and excitement of winning a Melbourne Royal blue ribbon,” Darren said. “I congratulate all our talented participants on their achievements.”

Melbourne Royal Woodchop Championships

Axe-citement was high as more finals saw competitors chop their way to victory.

Underhand Championship (300mm): Laurence M O’Toole, VIC.
Standing Block Handicap (250mm): Matthew Coffey, VIC.
Single Handed Sawing Handicap (375 mm): Laurence O’Toole, VIC.
Underhand Championship (handicap) 275mm: Blake Coffey, VIC.
Double Handed Sawing Championship (450mm): Robert Dowling, SA, and Jinaya Shadlow, NSW.

 

Melbourne Royal Horses in Action Competition

Day two of the horse events at the Melbourne Royal saw elegance and power in full stride, with the popular Clydesdales on the program.

Melbourne Royal All Breeds Championships Show

Big personalities and impressive skills reigned supreme on day two as the Action Dog Obedience competition brought out the best in athleticism, skill, and obedience.

Melbourne Royal Sheep Competition

Day two of the sheep competition at the Melbourne Royal showcased the prestigious Sheep Interbreed sections, along with the next generation, as young handlers took centre stage.

Interbreed Championship Ewe (All Breeds Sheep Interbreed): Bruce Rolfe and Douglas Scott, Oberon, NSW.
Interbreed Championship Ram (All Breeds Sheep Interbreed): Bron Ellis, Sweetfield Corriedale Stud.
