Speckle Park at home at the Royal Melbourne Show

The Royal Melbourne Show is set to be a haven for the country’s best Speckle Park cattle and breeders with $5,000 prize money added to their classes at the 2019 Royal Melbourne Show Beef Cattle Competition.
The generous increase in prize money is due to two years of fundraising campaigns made possible by a group of dedicated Victorian Speckle Park breeders.
The Victorian Speckle Park breeders formed a working group when the breed hosted a highly successful feature show at the 2017 Royal Melbourne Show.
This group was instrumental in fundraising and securing donations of products and services with a consideration to support both the Royal Melbourne Show and the advancement of the Speckle Park breed as a whole.
Since the 2017 feature show, the Victorian breeders hosted a dinner and auction at the 2018 Royal Melbourne Show , raising $16,500 for bushfire charity Blazeaid - a volunteer-based organisation that works with families and individuals in rural Australia after natural disasters such as fires and floods.
Speaking on behalf of the Victorian Speckle Park breeders, Mr. John Ellis, Hanging Rock Speckle Park stated,“The opportunity to promote the breed and financially support a number of initiatives was made possible from highly successful fundraising initiatives that continue to receive massive support from the Speckle Park breeders and the wider industry.”
“Through the auctioning of donated goods and services, the Speckle Park group have raised $50,000 over two years,” said Mr. Ellis.
Since its feature show at the 2017 Royal Melbourne Show, the Speckle Park Group has provided financial support to the 2018 Royal Adelaide Show’s 2018 Speckle Park Feature and up to $5,000 of financial support to the 2019 Speckle Park Youth Camp in Scone, NSW. This sponsorship will allow two worthy Speckle Park members to attend and participate in the South Australian Heifer Expo in July 2019.
The $5,000 prize money for the 2019 Royal Melbourne Show Speckle Park classes is a drawcard for one of Australia’s fastest growing registered breeds.
The Royal Melbourne Show Beef Cattle Competition will take place from Saturday 28 September to Tuesday 1 October.
The all new 2019 Royal Melbourne Show will be held from Saturday 21 September to Tuesday 1 October at Melbourne Showgrounds.
