Makers and Creators Competition to inspire Victoria’s creativity

Melbourne Royal® has launched an all-new Makers and Creators Competition for art, craft and cookery enthusiasts to enter.

The announcement comes in response to feedback from regular entrants in the popular Melbourne Royal® Art, Craft & Cookery Competition who have expressed their interest in still having an opportunity to showcase their creative talents.

Melbourne Royal® CEO, Brad Jenkins, is pleased to announce this new free online competition for art, craft and cookery enthusiasts to get involved with, allowing them to continue their creative journey.

“Each year the Melbourne Royal® Art, Craft & Cookery Competition attracts more than 4,000 entries and following the cancellation of the 2021 Show, our regular entrants expressed interest in still having an opportunity to showcase their talents, passions and creativity,” said Brad.

“Based on this feedback we have created an online Makers and Creators Competition for people of all ages and skill levels to enter and have some fun - from beginners to the highly experienced.”

Open to all ages and levels of experience, the free online Makers and Creators Competition inspires creativity and enables art, craft and cookery enthusiasts to showcase their passion in: Art, Photography, Basketry, Lace, Papercraft, Patchwork, Toys, Decorated Cakes, and Preserves.

The junior classes provide not only a fun outlet, but a link to the VCAA curriculum they have worked hard on this year is available for Design Technology, Healthy Muffin, Decorated Cup Cakes, Photography and Art.

“We understand and appreciate the considerable time, effort and commitment that many of our regular Art, Craft & Cookery Competition entrants may have already put into preparing entries for this year’s Show, so we are thrilled to offer an alternative competition to enter.”

“The success and longevity of the Melbourne Royal® is built on a desire and commitment by all involved to innovate and adapt programs to ensure the organisation continues to successfully deliver on our purpose to cultivate events, celebrate agriculture and strengthen communities,” said Brad.

“Melbourne Royal® hopes that the free online Makers and Creators Competition inspires some wonderful creativity and provides much enjoyment for many in the community during these extraordinary times,” concluded Brad.

Entry is all online with entrants required to submit a 30 second video detailing their work and passion for their chosen craft. The judging will also take place online by a panel of Melbourne Royal® judges, including members of the Melbourne Royal® Art, Craft & Cookery Committee.

The winning exhibits will be featured widely across the Melbourne Royal® website and social media accounts throughout October and November.

Entries are now open and close on Tuesday 12 October. For more information or to enter online visit https://www.melbourneroyal.com.au/makers-and-creators-competition/ or email ArtCraftCookery@melbourneroyal.com.au
