Judging of the 2020 Australian International Beer Awards to be postponed
18 Mar 2020 / Beer
Due to the ongoing health warning regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19), The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) has made the difficult decision to postpone the judging of the 2020 Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA).
The AIBA was scheduled to commence judging at Melbourne Showgrounds on Wednesday 13 May, concluding on Friday 15 May.
The health of AIBA judges, stewards and staff is the highest priority of the RASV and in the current climate regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, postponing the event to a later date is believed to be the best option for all involved.
Online entries will remain open beyond the original closing date of Friday 27 March. Exhibitors will be advised of a new closing date for entries when the revised judging dates are finalised.
In order to ensure that all entries are judged in their best possible condition, we request that exhibitors await further communication from the AIBA prior to arranging delivery of their samples.
The AIBA Presentation night, scheduled for 21 May and the Exhibitor & Trade Tasting scheduled for 22 May will also be moved to accommodate the change in the judging schedule.
All exhibitors that have pre-booked for the Exhibitor & Trade Tasting will be re-issued with invitations when the date is announced.
We appreciate the understanding from the Australian and International brewing industry that have supported the AIBA for more than 30 years.
We will ensure that all stakeholders are kept well informed of the new judging and presentation evening dates when official precautionary actions regarding mass gatherings and the COVID-19 response becomes clearer.
