2021 Australian Distilled Spirits Awards on track for record entries
12 Aug 2021 / Spirits
The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) is committed to the delivery of a number of its Food and Beverage Award Programs over the coming months, including the Australian Distilled Spirits Awards (ADSA) in September.
Now in its 7th year, the ADSA is Australia’s first and largest national spirits competition highlighting the innovation and excellence of Australian-manufactured spirits, liqueurs, aromatics and vermouths.
With entries closing on Friday 13 August, the 2021 ADSA is on track to achieve record entries.
Due to the ongoing challenges of COVID-19 impacting how events can be conducted, the RASV is taking a proactive approach to ensuring the ADSA can be held in 2021.
Having proved highly successful last year, the ADSA will once again be judged remotely from Monday 13 – Wednesday 15 September, with entries being dispatched to judges around the country who will assemble online to taste and critique each product as a panel.
This will enable the RASV to maximise the involvement of interstate judges and ensures that the health and safety of all judges, stewards and staff remains the highest priority.
The RASV is grateful that the ADSA virtual judging has been made possible by Plasdene Glass-Pak. A long-term ADSA partner, they are generously supplying thousands of unmarked sample bottles as a dispensing solution.
All entries will be carefully decanted under sterile conditions at Melbourne Showgrounds in early September, before being safely couriered to the expert judging panel throughout Australia.
Recognising the long tradition of distilling in Australia as well as the new generation of emerging spirits and liqueur producers, the award program, conducted by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), provides Australian distillers with an essential benchmarking and networking opportunity.
